TORRAS Snapiel Screen Protector review: Reusable protection

TORRAS Snapiel Screen Protector review: Reusable protection

The Torras Snapiel Screen Protector comes with a very interesting feature — the ability to be reused. Made by the same folks who made the Torras Coolify, the screen protector is designed for the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro, with a version for the 13 Pro Max. Now, chances are you probably won’t be reusing your screen protector, but having the option is nice. The Snapiel is also easy to install, and claims to have zero bubbles.

Quick specs

  • Repastable
  • Anti-scratch
  • Protects the notch

The claim for zero bubbles is a pretty big one, but my tests show that it’s mostly true. It’s only zero bubbles if there are no dust particles on the display. The screen protector does a good job at pushing air bubbles out by itself though. Of course, you have to make sure the screen is free of dust first. Thankfully, this is easy enough with the provided wet wipe.

Installing the Snapiel screen protector is simple. It comes with a plastic guide that you put over the phone. Next, wipe the screen, followed by peeling off the sticker and laying the protector over the display. Unlike other screen protectors, such as this one from Belkin, it doesn’t feature cutouts for the iPhone notch. There’s only a small one for the speaker. Interestingly, it doesn’t seem to interfere with the function of the phone, especially Face ID. If you muck up, don’t worry, just peel it off and redo.

If you find some dirt on the screen protector when reapplying, use the provided adhesive repair patch to remove it from the Snapiel. I do want to point out that the claims made on its Kickstarter campaign, such as the protector being able to suck dust out, don’t seem to be true. I left a small speck on dust and very tiny fine hair under to see what happens. It’s been at least a month, and the speck and hair is still there. Scratch resistance seems to be pretty good, I’ve yet to see a mark despite daily use and accidental brushes with sharp objects.

At US$28, the Torras Snapiel Screen Protector is a tad on the high side. But being reusable, you could possibly use it on your next iPhone if it keeps to a similar form factor. Get it from from TORRAS directly.
